Quiver has acquired North American rights to Uwe Boll’s latest film, the action thriller Citizen Vigilante starring Armie Hammer.
Written, directed and produced by Boll and executive produced by Michael Roche, Citizen Vigilante follows Sanders (Hammer), a man who takes justice into his own hands and hunts down criminals. As his fame grows, Sanders is increasingly seen by the public as a hero. However, Interpol Director Henry (Kostas Mandylor) considers them a threat to society and investigates the vigilante group.

Mr. Roche emphasized that Mr. Hammer’s highest bill is generating excitement. “We know from countless social media posts and messages how much audiences have been eagerly awaiting Armie Hammer’s return to the big screen. We couldn’t be more excited to have this incredible actor return to the title role in Citizen Vigilante.”
Roche added that interest in the film increased after the AFM screening, and several U.S. distributors made offers before it ultimately went to Quiver. The indie distributor plans to release “Citizen Vigilante” in theaters and on demand this summer.
Larry Greenberg negotiated the contract on behalf of Quiver.
“Having worked with Uwe on numerous films, we are thrilled to be releasing Citizen Vigilante, a 21st century Death Wish,” Quiver co-presidents Berry Meyerowitz and Jeff Sackman said in a statement.
“In a time when theaters are filled with boring sequels and superhero movies, we bring uncompromising thrillers to theaters and on demand,” Boll added. “This is a film that is needed in this day and age.”
‘Citizen Vigilante’, filmed in Zagreb, Croatia, brought together many of Bol’s regular collaborators. In addition to production partner Roesch, longtime Boll cinematographer Matthias Neumann returns behind the camera, and veteran editor Ethan Maniquez returns to the editing room. Boris Velican oversaw local production, and Santa Monica-based Tunnel Post handled post-production.
As Citizen Vigilante gears up for release, Boll and Roche have just confirmed the sequel to their 2024 Paramount+ hit First Shift. “First Shift: Vengeance” and “First Shift: Redemption” will see Gino Anthony Pesci and Kristen Renton reprise their roles as the original police duo.
Also in the works is “23 Years Later: Return to Zombie Island,” starring the entire original cast of the 2003 horror-action movie “House of the Dead.” The project’s Indiegogo campaign is off to a strong start, according to producers.
Stuttgart-based Kinostar is selling Citizen Vigilante, the First Shift sequel, immigration thriller Run and 23 Years Later: Return to Zombie Island at Berlin’s EFM.
