President Trump says he will withdraw support for ‘unorthodox’ Marjorie Taylor Greene

President Donald Trump says he is “withdrawing” his support for Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a longtime political ally. Trump described Greene as an “abusing lunatic” and said he would support “the right person” to oppose Greene in the primary. The announcement comes amid months of heightened tensions between the two politicians.

Amid months of heightened tension between President Donald Trump and Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the president said he is “withdrawing” his support for his longtime political ally.

In a lengthy post on his Truth social account on Friday, November 14, President Trump said he would no longer support the Republican, who represents Georgia’s 14th Congressional District. “I am withdrawing my endorsement and endorsement of Georgia’s ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene,” President Trump wrote.

He went on to detail his administration’s “record accomplishments for our country,” including “locking down cities, closing borders, lowering taxes, banning men from women’s sports, banning all transgender people, ending DEI, stopping Biden’s record-setting inflation, the largest regulatory cuts in history, stopping eight wars, and total and complete victory in rebuilding our military.”

Trump continued, “Everything! All ‘weird’ Marjorie is doing is complaining, complaining, complaining! It all seemed to start when I sent her a poll saying she shouldn’t run for Senate or Governor. She was at 12% and had no chance (unless of course she had my support, which she wasn’t going to get!).”

He claimed that Ms. Greene “has told many people that she’s upset that I don’t return her calls anymore, but she’s 219 congressmen/women, 53 U.S. senators, 24 Cabinet members, in almost 200 countries, and lives an otherwise normal life, so she can’t take calls from a lunatic who rants every day.”

Greene then responded to Trump’s comments through a statement shared on X.

“President Trump has just attacked me and lied about me,” Greene began. She then released a series of text messages she allegedly sent to Trump and aide Natalie Harp, released files related to convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, and urged prominent Democrats like Bill Clinton to “stand in” over claims that they were named in the documents.

“And of course he’s going after me hard to set an example to scare all the other Republicans before he votes next week to release the Epstein files,” Greene continued. “It’s really amazing how hard he’s fighting to stop the Epstein files from being leaked, and that he’s actually gotten to this level.”

In her post, Greene categorically stated that while she is an ardent supporter of the president, she does not “worship or serve Donald Trump.”

“I have generously used my precious time and personal finances to support President Trump and fight harder for him even when nearly every other Republican turned their back and condemned him,” Greene wrote. “But I don’t worship or serve Donald Trump.”

Trump’s post came days after Greene told reporters that she “got lost” during a meeting with Syria’s interim president, Ahmad al-Sharaa. Greene was a vocal critic of President Trump’s decision to describe al-Shara as a “former al-Qaida terrorist wanted by our government” in a post on the X account on Monday, November 10th.

“I really want to see non-stop meetings at the WH about domestic policy, not foreign policy or foreign leaders,” Greene wrote.

“Let’s start by bringing in the health insurance executives and start crafting a Republican plan to save America from Obamacare and the ACA tax credits that have driven up health care costs,” the post continued.

Greene has been increasingly critical of her fellow Republicans and Trump in recent months. In June, she broke with her party’s opposition to the artificial intelligence (AI) provisions in President Trump’s Big Beautiful Act, admitting she had never read the bill. She also condemned President Trump’s decision to bomb three Iranian nuclear facilities that month.

“I’m tired of funding foreign aid, foreign countries, and all things foreign,” Greene wrote in a statement on her X account on June 22. “I want to fund American interests and problems.”

Towards the end of his Nov. 14 Truth social post, Trump said he would provide his “full and unwavering support” to the “right person” if he decided to run against Greene in the primary.

“She’s gone far left and even appeared on ‘The View’ because low IQ Republicans hate anchors,” Trump wrote. “Thank you for your attention on this matter. Let’s Make America Great Again!”

Trump’s post appears to confirm some details shared by New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who said in a Nov. 5 video that Greene is on a “vengeance trip” against Trump because he won’t support her as a candidate for a Georgia Senate seat.

“Marjorie Taylor Greene wanted to run for the Senate in Georgia. She wanted to run for the Senate in Georgia earlier this year and she wanted to be the Republican candidate for the Senate. So she was gearing up for a statewide campaign and President Trump told her no,” Ocasio-Cortez said in the video. “Trump said no, so the White House and Trump Land thwarted Marjorie Taylor Greene’s personal ambitions to run for Senate, and she has been on a journey of revenge ever since.”
