Donald Trump appeared on Truth Social on Wednesday afternoon to poke fun at George Clooney and his family for becoming French citizens. He also made sure to include favorite political targets like Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Gavin Newsom.
“Good news! George and Amal Clooney, the worst political prophets of all time, are now officially French citizens. France is sadly in the midst of a major crime problem due to its absolutely terrible handling of immigration, just as it was during the Sleepy Joe Biden administration,” Trump wrote.
“Remember after the now infamous debate, when Clooney dumped Joe during a fundraiser and ended up siding with another good candidate, Jamara (K!)? Clooney got more attention for his politics than a handful of congressmen. And he wasn’t a movie star at all, he was just a regular guy who was constantly complaining about political common sense. ”
Clooney is an outspoken critic of President Trump and an avid supporter of the Democratic Party. Back in April, the “Jay Kelly” star told CBS he wasn’t bothered by President Trump’s insults, deriding him as a “fake movie actor.”
“I don’t care,” Clooney said. “I’ve known Donald Trump for a long time. My job is not to please the president of the United States. My job is to try to tell the truth whenever I can and every chance I get. I’m very aware of the idea that people won’t like it. … People will criticize it. Elon Musk has expressed an opinion (about me), and that’s their right. It’s my right to say the opposite.”
In a recent Variety cover story, Clooney addressed President Trump’s second-term lawsuit against the media and encouraged networks to stand up to the president rather than settle.
“If CBS and ABC had challenged these lawsuits and said, ‘Fuck it,’ we wouldn’t be in this country today,” Clooney said. “That’s just the truth.”
