“Point of Change” is the true story of the discovery of the perfect surfing point break in Lagundi Bay, Nias Island, Indonesia, and the dramatic events that happened to the people and the place – what happens after they unearth paradise.
Point of Change is the story of an island community that has changed forever and dramatically, chronicling the first surfers who “discovered” the point and the “perfect wave” on the then-remote island of Nias in the early 1970s, and the unintended and dramatic consequences that followed: devastating social and ecological consequences for people and the place.
The film combines first-person testimony, never-before-seen Super 8 archives, contemporary interviews and animation, and also features an original score composed by Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Warbeck and exclusive new music by Paul Oakenfold and local musicians.
The film has already been sold to Madman Films/Garage in Australia and is expected to be released in theaters early next year.
The film is produced by Enriched Media Group and Nias Film Limited in association with Red Squirrel Studios. It was produced by Philip Bergin, Martin McCabe and Mick Southworth, and co-produced by Eddie in Paris. The animation director is Maxine Brunille.
