Peter Dinklage has joined the cast of season 2 of FX’s Alien: Earth, Variety reports.
Details about his character are still being kept under wraps, but the “Game of Thrones” Emmy winner will be a regular on the sci-fi series from “Fargo” creator Noah Hawley.
Inspired by Ridley Scott’s 1979 blockbuster and taking place two years before the events of the original film, “Alien: Earth” is the first television installment in the “Alien” series. Sidney Chandler stars as the humanoid robot Wendy, and the cast also includes Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babu Ceesay, Adarsh Grav, and Timothy Olyphant.
Production on Season 2 will begin in May at Pinewood Studios in London, where the original films Alien 3 and Prometheus were filmed. Season 1 of Alien: Earth was filmed in Thailand.
Dinklage has won four Emmy Awards for his role as Tyrion Lannister in HBO’s hit fantasy film Game of Thrones, and most recently co-starred with Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst in Roofman and alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in Wicked. He also appeared in “Dexter: Resurrection,” and could lead the new “Poker Face” as Detective Charlie Cale, taking over the role from Natasha Lyonne. After the series was canceled by Peacock after two seasons, Rian Johnson is currently shopping his version around Hollywood.
“Alien: Earth” is a made-for-television production that Hawley will executive produce along with EP Scott, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Emilia Serrano, Bob DeLaurentis, Peter Calloway, Monica Mather, John Campisi and Simon Emanuel. This show is produced by FX Productions.
Deadline reported the news of Dinklage’s casting.
