According to the death certificate obtained by the outlet, Sean died of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding and severe metabolic acidosis caused by cirrhosis of the liver caused by alcoholism.
He was 63 years old.
Sean’s cousin Rachel Leon paid tribute to him on Instagram, writing that she was “heartbroken” by his death.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his brother Don Swayze and their children, Kathy Swayze, Kyle Swayze, and Jesse Swayze,” she wrote. “We are praying hard for the entire family during this difficult time.”
“Please know that we love you and will always be here for you,” she continued. “Sean, I love you so much and I will miss you so much.”
Patrick and Sean had three other siblings. My brother Don and sisters Vicki and Bambi are still alive.
Patrick passed away in September 2009 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was 57 years old.
In an interview with Barbara Walters that aired in January 2009, the “Dirty Dancing” star said she first noticed cancer symptoms while celebrating New Year’s Eve in 2008.
“I tried to drink champagne…and it was, you know, like pouring acid into an open wound. And my indigestion problems became huge and continuous,” he recalled. “Then I started thinking, ‘I’m starting to lose weight.'”
“You look at it in the mirror and all of a sudden… you pull your eyes down… and the area under your eyes becomes yellow and you start to feel jaundiced. That’s when you know something is wrong,” he continued. “I started looking into it a little bit…and I started realizing that this is not beautiful. This is not good.”
