Lee Byung-Hun found Park Chan-Wook’s Korean drama “No Other Choice” opened at the top of the South Korean box office on September 26-28 with $4.5 million from 609,280 entry, with 45.2% of weekend sales leading 45.2% from 1,871 screens. The film has reached $7.4 million since its release on September 24th, according to Kobis, a tracking service run by the Korean Film Council.
Lee plays Man-Su, a layoff paper manufacturing expert who relies on serial killings to eliminate competitors for a single job to discover that there is a position to oversee AI testing.
The Japanese special “Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc” arrived second with $2.5 million, drawing 311,715 admissions on 1,064 screens with a 24.7% share. The total of that run is $3.5 million after five days. The film adapts Fujimoto’s Tamichi hit manga “reze” arc. The film, directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara and written by Hiroshi Seko, follows Denji as his encounter with Café Worker Reze leads to a clash of intimate connections and bloody chaos. Audio cast includes Reina Ueda, Fairouz Ai, Tomori kusunoki, and Maaya uchida.
Japanese juggernaut “Demon Slayer: Kimet No Yaiba – Movie: Infinity Castle” ranked third with a cumulative $38.5 million with $907,483 (116,882 admission).
Yeon Sang-Ho’s “The Ugly” followed the fourth with $671,532 (90,002 entry), lifting its cume to $6.6 million. “The Ugly” stars Park Jeong-Min along with Kwon Hae-Hyo, Shin Hyun-Been, Im Seong-Jae and Han Ji-Hyun. This plot follows Dong Han, the son of a visually impaired seal sculptor.
“Pan Barber’s Shop: Bakery Town Buddy” came in fifth place with $386,132 from entry to 58,845, while Studio Ghibli’s “Princess Mononoke” came in sixth place with $134,317, reaching $1.4 million. Brad Pitt’s “F1” came in seventh place with $73,851, bringing it to $38.7 million in total.
“Octonauts: Above and Beyond – Season 2” won $86,893 and $86,893 (Cume $99,823). “Detective Conan” added $86,221 to the ninth (Cume $540,446). “Frankenstein: Musical Live” was number 10th at $164,609 ($860,931).
The top ten movies totaled at $9.6 million for frames from September 26th-28th, starting from around $5.7 million the previous weekend.
