Paramount Skydance recently hired veteran tech executive Dane Glasgow on Meta’s Facebook as Chief Product Officer and the latest member of Revamped C-Suite.

Glasgow will report directly to David Ellison, chairman and CEO of Paramount Skydance, which was formed through the acquisition of Skydance Media’s Paramount Global (closed last month). Glasgow will begin on September 29th with a new role.

Glasgow’s company employment said Ellison’s “strong commitment to working with leading technology innovators to build next-generation companies at the forefront of entertainment,” according to the news. Glasgow will work closely with Cindy Holland, a former Netrix executive who leads Paramount Skydance’s direct consumer group to “ensure alignment and collaboration across its platform, product and audience engagement strategy,” the company said.

“As we strive to push the boundaries of creativity and innovation, it is extremely moving forward to bringing Dane’s caliber leadership,” Ellison said in a statement. “From Meta, Google, eBay and Microsoft to the successful companies he co-founded, neoglyph entertainment and positronics, Dane’s expertise is exactly what it takes to enhance every aspect of his business.”

More recently, Glasgow is the vice president of product management at Meta’s Facebook, leading a product team that provides feeds, stories, reels, groups, marketplaces, games, advertising and more to more than 3 billion monthly active users around the world. He previously led a Facebook group.

Before joining META in 2021, Glasgow achieved senior leadership positions in product, design, engineering and general management at Google, eBay and Microsoft. He is also an entrepreneur who launched entertainment, finance and communications businesses. Glasgow attended Cornell University. There, I majored in computer science before leaving at the beginning of my fourth year to concentrate on starting a startup.

In a statement, Glasgow said: “Entertainment and storytelling have inspired my passion for technology from a very young age. I am excited to be part of Paramount, behind so many great stories told in the last century’s Century Plus.

“Together we have an extraordinary opportunity to help shape the future of entertainment. It creates an unforgettable experience for all Paramount platforms and brand audiences, allowing creatives to tell the best stories about the incredible canvas.

According to Paramount Skydance, Glasgow lives in California with his family. In a post about his moves on LinkedIn, Glasgow wrote that he learned to code as a child.

On August 7th, Skydance closed its acquisition of Paramount Global following FCC approval. Ellison said he expects the company to cut costs from the company by more than $2 billion. That includes a massive layoff, and is expected to eliminate as many as 3,000 jobs by early November, Variety reports.
