Kristi Noem’s Department of Homeland Security and Pam Bondi reacted to the latest “Saturday Night Live” cold open in which Tina Fey and Amy Poehler parodied the DHS secretary and attorney general, respectively.
“(Kristi Noem), should we recreate this photo in Chicago?” Bondi wrote on X Sunday, sharing a screenshot of the sketch. “Dear Amy Poehler!”
Nomu remained silent, but Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Entertainment Weekly about the cold opening, “‘SNL’ is absolutely right. The Democratic shutdown absolutely needs to end!”
“SNL’s” latest cold open began with Bondi’s defense of Poehler in a controversial Senate hearing earlier this week, in which the AG was slammed for everything from the Epstein file to her involvement in the prosecution of James Comey.
“I’m not going to talk about my personal conversations with the president,” said Poehler, who plays Bondi. “I’m not saying who fell asleep mid-sentence or who kept calling me Ivanka while patting my knee.”
Regarding the Epstein files, Poehler said, “I tried reading the Epstein files, but I got really tired of them. There was a lot of repetition. I joked, ‘Trump this, Trump that.'” Yawn. ”
Then Noem, the fey, entered the frame carrying an assault rifle and wearing a DHS hat.
“Yes, it’s me, Christy,” said Faye’s Noem. “I put an ‘I’ in my name because that’s how I thought it was spelled.”
Fey’s Noem then provided behind-the-scenes information on how ICE hires talent. “How did you find out? Do you post ads like this and need a job now? Yes. Are you a big, tough guy? Yes. Are you tough enough to be in the military or police? No. Do you take supplements you buy at a gas station? Every day. Do you use zip ties because the people around you don’t trust you with your keys? You know what? Smoke some of this. Welcome to ICE.”
