An incident involving Outer Banks executive producer Jonas Pate allegedly occurred during filming this week.
On Wednesday, October 22nd, TMZ reported that multiple sources are claiming that Jonas, who co-created the Netflix hit with twin brothers Josh Pate and Shannon Burke, had a sexual relationship with a female production assistant. Several of the series’ stars reportedly intervened, including stars Chase Stokes and Madeline Cline.
A source told PEOPLE that Jonas “screamed at a female production assistant and grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her. He didn’t hurt her or try to hurt her. He just crossed the line. There’s no way he could ever put his hands on someone.”
Neither Netflix nor Jonas responded to multiple requests for comment from PEOPLE. Representatives for Stokes and Klein did not immediately respond.

TMZ reported that “tension was high” at the scene where Jonas allegedly grabbed and shook the PA. Production for the fifth and final season is taking place in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Stokes intervened to separate the two, and Klein tried to de-escalate the situation, the paper said.
Multiple production sources told TMZ that this was not “unusual behavior” by Jonas, with one source reportedly saying, “It’s about time to make it public.”

Netflix confirmed that Outer Banks began filming Season 5 on June 20, and at the time, the streaming service released two group photos of the cast. Klein plays Sarah Cameron. Madison Bailey plays Chiara Carrera. Jonathan Davis plays Pope Hayward. Drew Starkey plays Ralph Cameron. and Carlesia Grant, who plays Cleo.
An Instagram post showed the group laughing and posing for a photoshoot in a wetland outside of Charleston.
“It’s summer and obx 5 is back in production 🤙,” the caption read.
An official premiere date has not been announced, but Netflix has confirmed that it will air in 2026.
Josh, Jonas Pate, and Burke told Tudam in June 2025 that they were “so happy to be on this final journey with the Pogues.” “Being back on set with the cast for this final round is nothing short of bittersweet and surreal. I can’t wait to show you what we have in store for you this season. It’s going to be a wild journey.”
“We think this will be the best (season) yet,” the co-creators said in a previous letter to fans, and also shared that the series’ final scene has been solidified over the years.
Josh said in February 2023, “If we were lucky, we knew from the beginning what the final scene was going to be.”
