Oscilloscope Laboratories has acquired the global rights to Joel Alfonso Vargas’ “Fast Payment Bill.” The film world premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won the next special juj award for the ensemble cast and screened at the Berlin International Film Festival. It was part of this year’s new director/new film edition. Next, the New York Craten Film Festival will be held on Tuesday. Oscilloscope Laboratories will partner with the Non-Apologies Project for release in selected theatres next year.

The film follows Rico, who sells cocktails and chases after a girl over the summer. When his girlfriend, Destiny, is pregnant, she moves in with his family in the Bronx. The cast is led by Juan Collado, Destiny Czech Republic, Johanna Florentino and Natalie Navarro.

On the festival circuit, “Madville’s to Eyes” (or “Destiny, Dile Que no Soy Malo”) has been praised as “one of the best debuts.” The film shows the first distinction of writer-director Vargas, following his acclaimed brief, “May It Go To You, For You, Rico.” The film was produced by Paolo Maria Pedur. Lexi Kroll is an associate producer. The film is a production of features for killer films, Perpetuum Film, Watermark Media and Spark. Executive producers include Christine Vachon, Gabriel Mayers, Julie Waters, Evan Dial, Robinarissityero, Josh Peters and Liam Francis Quigley.

“The ride to ‘Mad Bills to Pay’ has been much wilder since landing in Sundance and Berlin earlier this year, but love has been unrealistic,” Vargas said. “Now we were able to continue collaborating with the oscilloscope and couldn’t be excited to put the film in front of even more viewers via the big screen. I feel that something that is centered around hip-hop and Latino New Yorkers is just meant.”

He continued. “I know Dan Berger and the oscilloscope team defend the film with the same care they showed countless indie gems. It’s a true New York incident. I’m also grateful to the city media for brokering the deal to support our release efforts, for brokering the deal to respect Adam East’s madness and respect, and for the contract to cool the Nutcracker forever.”

“Photoshooting ‘Mad Bills to Pay Bottle’ in a Bottle – hustle, grind, vitality, punch and liquor,” said Aaron Katz, vice president of the Oscilloscope Institute.

Chris Quintus Caskirt and Tyler Baum said, “We fell in love with ‘Mad Bills to Mad Bills’ at Sundance.’ There, Joel’s instructions stood out for both formal originality and a powerful humanitarian approach to his character. I’m proud to help bring this film to the theatre audience. ”

The film’s deal was negotiated on behalf of the filmmaker by Katz and cinetic media Isadora Johnson.

Joel is represented by the Entertainment 360 and the CAA.
