Jennifer Lawrence prefers to be referred to as a mother rather than as an Oscar-winning actress.
“I consider myself a stay-at-home mom,” the “Hunger Games” star said on Monday’s episode of the “SmartLess” podcast.
Lawrence, who has son Cy, 3, with husband Cooke Maroney, and a second child, a boy, due in early 2025, added: “Of course I’m working,” adding that she’s had to juggle a busy schedule recently.
“Usually I’m busy during the three months of filming, but in that sense it’s also calm because I don’t have anything else to do,” the actress, 35, explained.
“I just go to work, do that, go home, sleep, and do the same thing again. Then I have a promotion period of about two weeks. It’s busy.”
Most recently, the “Unique Playbook” star promoted the film “Die My Love” with co-star Robert Pattinson in November of this year.
Lawrence plays Grace, a writer and young mother battling postpartum depression, in the Lynne Ramsay-directed film.
The role of Lawrence earned her a nomination for Outstanding Lead Performance at the 2025 Gotham Awards in December.
She was also nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards held in Los Angeles over the weekend.
Other nominees include Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), Julia Roberts (After the Hunt), Tessa Thompson (Hedda), Eva Victor (Sorry, Baby) and Jesse Buckley, who won the award for Hamnet.
Lawrence, who won an Oscar in 2013 for “The World’s Only Playbook”, seems to have a demanding schedule both at work and at home.
During a lengthy conversation on the podcast “SmartLess,” the actress briefly discussed how she and Maroney are raising their children.
“I married someone who is the complete opposite of me. He’s very organized and an anchor,” she explained of the 41-year-old art gallery director she married in 2019.
“Everything is ordered. I have to keep the closet door closed and I have a little job that I work really hard at. I understand it now, I understand it. (The kids) are on a very strict schedule.”
What supports their “married life”?
“I’ve learned that I need 15 minutes to spare in order to make my marriage work,” she revealed, admitting that she often struggles to keep up with her family’s schedule.
