Variety reports that director David J. North has signed an overall deal with CBS Studios.
North is the co-creator, executive producer, and showrunner of NCIS: Origins, which is currently airing its second season and has already been renewed for a third season. Under his new contract, North will continue to serve as showrunner for Season 3. His co-creator and current co-showrunner Gina Lucita Monreal will exit the series at the end of season 2, as previously reported.
Under the new general agreement, North will create, develop and produce both broadcast and streaming projects. NCIS: Origins will return from its winter hiatus on March 3rd.
North began her television career as a support staff member on the first season of “NCIS.” He eventually rose to the position of writer and producer, leaving the show to work on other series such as “Rizzoli & Isles,” “Scorpion” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.” He returned to “NCIS” for season 14 of the show, becoming an executive producer and co-showrunner. He remained on the show until the 21st season, before moving on to “NCIS: Origins.”
North is represented by Management-Ment and the law firm of David Tenzer.
NCIS: Origins follows the adventures of young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon in the Mothership series and Austin Stowell in the first part. The cast also includes Mariel Molino, Kyle Schmidt, Tyra Abercrumbie, Diane Rodriguez, and Caleb Foote. North, Monreal, Mark Harmon, and Sean Harmon all serve as executive producers on the series, which is produced by CBS Studios.
