Jakarta World Cinema Festival concluded its fourth edition with a deadline ceremony at CGV Grand Indonesia, and announced its feature and winners across the short film competition.

Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value” won the JWC Audience Award, which was voted in person by festival participants. In the first feature competition, the ju judge awarded Pauline Roques of “Nino” best director, while Cole Webley’s “Omaha” won the Best Film.

The Klikfilm Short Movie Competition celebrated the talent of emerging Indonesia with four prizes. Sunung Winahyoko’s “Babon” won the first place and the feature film fund, while Joni Astin Ariadi’s “Darma” was placed as the first runner-up (received the feature film fund) and Ardian Parasto’s “Pembayun” was placed as the second runner-up (also the feature film fund). Nada Leo Prakasa’s “Wahyu” won a viewer’s favorite award and a $550 million ($3,000) prize.

This year, the festival featured 185 films from 66 countries, attracting 208,111 participants across the online screening and in-person film experience in Jakarta.

Indonesia’s Minister of Culture Fadri Zong attended the closing ceremony and said, “Jakarta World Cinema is a very important event for the Indonesian cinema ecosystem and will become a space for cinema discussion and celebration. Our film industry is something we must cultivate.

He added: “We are extremely pleased to see through JWC that several young filmmakers have the opportunity to make their first feature film funded by Klikfilm. We hope there are more platforms like this.”

Executive Director Frederica calls the edition a “turning point for us” and focuses on the overwhelming audience’s response. “We are particularly proud to offer young Indonesian filmmakers the opportunity to move from shorts to feature films,” she said.

Festival director Shandy Gasela repeated his emotions. “The audience’s response to JWC 2025 has been extraordinary. From the sold-out screenings to the excitement of the short film competition, this shows that the space is growing to assess both the world and local films.”

Founded in 2022, Jakarta World Cinema is powered by Klikfilm and supported by CGV Cinemas.
