Former New York Magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi claimed that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. used psychedelic drugs despite being “sober” for many years.
According to the New York Times, Nuzzi claims in his upcoming memoir, “American Cunt,” that the Secretary of Health and Human Services told him he used psychedelics and had ever smoked dimethyltryptamine (DMT).
DMT is the psychoactive component of the drug ayahuasca, which has been used for centuries for ritual and medicinal purposes by Amazonian tribes. It is known to cause intense hallucinations and auditory hallucinations, and can even give people what feels like a “near-death experience”, according to the Alcohol and Drug Foundation.
But President Kennedy has maintained his sobriety for decades.
At age 29, Kennedy pleaded guilty to a felony charge of heroin possession. He was admitted to a drug treatment center and claims to have been sober ever since.
According to previous reports, he has also battled allegations of sexual addiction.
The New York Post exclusively reported that he kept a secret diary during his marriage to his second wife, Mary Richardson, in which he recorded his multiple sexual conquests. Kennedy denied that the diary belonged to him.
Richardson died by suicide two years after filing for divorce. She had accused him of being a “sexual deviant” during their controversial divorce proceedings.
Kennedy is currently married to “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Cheryl Hines.
Hines briefly addressed the alleged romance between Nuzzi and RFK Jr. in her memoir Unscripted, admitting that the headlines made her feel “unimportant.”
However, she said the couple “talked about all the hard times we’ve been through over the past few years and what we mean to each other” and ultimately “strengthened” their bond.
