Oscar and Palme d’Or winner Anatomy of a Fall director Justin Torrier has expanded the cast for his next film, which will be his full English debut.
Fonda was first announced before the Berlin Film Festival, with Mia Goth (Frankenstein), Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers), Frank Dillane (Archin) and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Candyman) signed on to star.
Odessa Azion, who broke out in “Marty Supreme,” rising British star Ewan Mitchell (“House of the Dragon,” “Wuthering Heights”), and three-time Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones (“24”) , “The Handmaid’s Tale”), British actor Benedict Wong (“Weapons,” “The Doctor”), and Allison Janney (“The West Wing,” “I Tonya”) have officially joined the cast. It’s weird.”) Filming is scheduled to take place from April to June.
According to the synopsis, “Fonda” is a “psychological thriller set in a seemingly idyllic house,” in which the audience “takes a dizzying leap into the shifting limits of a healthy mind, where sadness and obsession take hold.”
“Fonda” reunites writer-director Torier with “Anatomy of a Fall” producers Marie-Ange Luciani (“Pierre Films”) and David Thion (“Perrea Films”), and distributor MK2 Film. It is co-produced by Delphine Thomson, Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s Les Films du Fleuve (Rosetta), a Belgian company. British partners House Productions (Conclave, Zone of Interest) and BBC Films are also co-producers on the project.
MK2 Films (“Sentimental Value”) is handling international sales and is also financing and co-producing with Studiocanal’s Anna Marsh, François Merger and Asia Burge. Nathanael Kermitz, Elisha Kermitz and Fionnuala Jamison are also credited as producers. Studiocanal plans to distribute “Fonda” theatrically in its territories, including France, Germany, Italy, Benelux, Poland, Australia and New Zealand. IPR.VC, which has a multi-year funding agreement with MK2 Films, is also an investor. The film’s casting was assembled by Cynthia Ara (Anatomy of a Fall) and Carmel Cochran (Saltburn).
