What you need to know
This week, Noah Wyle appeared on the red carpet with a special guest.
On Wednesday, January 7, the 54-year-old actor walked the red carpet with his wife Sarah Weil, 46, and their two children, Owen, 20, and Auden, 23, at the Season 2 premiere of The Pit in Los Angeles.
Mr. Wylie wore a burgundy suit with a beige shirt and tie, while his wife looked resplendent in a gold sleeveless floor-length dress. The ER alum’s children are from his previous marriage, and both looked elegant in all-black outfits. His daughter accessorized a sheer bodycon dress with a high split and polka-dot stockings, while his son wore an all-black suit.

Wiley is also the father of daughter Frances, whom he welcomed with Sarah on June 22, 2015. During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Wiley spoke with Stephen Colbert about his long history of acting in the medical genre. When the late-night show host, 60, asked Wylie if he ever forgot he wasn’t a real doctor, Wylie admitted that he sometimes does and misdiagnoses children.
“When you asked me that question, I immediately remembered that I have been misdiagnosing children,” Wiley responded. “Oh, is it a compound fracture? Maybe cold water won’t help.”
Wiley starred as Dr. John Carter on NBC’s hit medical drama ER for 12 seasons, but he tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that his kids haven’t binge-watched the series yet. “My older kids don’t watch either. They watch more ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ than ‘ER.’ That’s debatable,” the actor said.
“But the older they get and the more interested they seem to be in this business, I want to keep it as something they might want to do. But, you know, they’re watching Pitt,” Wiley continued, referring to Max’s original drama, which sees him return to the medical drama world as senior attending physician Dr. Michael “Robbie” Robinavich.

As Owen and Auden pursue careers both in front of and behind the camera, Weil helps his children make it in Hollywood. Owen, who is currently enrolled in college, said he is “taking all kinds of film classes with the goal of eventually getting a job in the industry.”
As for Auden, she said, “She’s already started her career as an actress, and she and I got to work together on an episode of Leverage: Redemption, playing father and daughter.” Wyle touched on a moment between Season 1 characters Harry and Becky Wilson, revealing that they’ll be co-starring more, and that “that’s going to start next season 3.”

“My 9-year-old son is a dynamo who can do whatever he wants with his life,” Francis said, adding that all three of them “have tried to make this business seem difficult and rewarding, and it is. And they have no illusions that lightning strikes the same place too often.”
“So, like I said, everyone’s journey is their own and I’m making myself available to (them),” Weil concluded.
