vertical vanguard
Japanese broadcaster Nippon Television has launched Viral Pocket, a new video vertical aimed at the burgeoning micro-drama sector.
The category is capitalizing on the success of Nippon Television’s short drama “We are Coy Every Day,” which has amassed more than 2.6 billion organic views since its start airing in March 2023. The third title, “The Final Lesson – Only Survivors Grade,” recently won at the 1st Asian Short Drama Awards.
Viral Pocket operates across three areas: original IP development, end-to-end vertical production, and KPI-based marketing support for brands and agencies. The division already has a partnership with Japanese food company Nissui, which has generated more than 10 million organic views in two weeks for branded content centered around food allergies.
Hirofumi Tanaka, president of Nippon Television’s content strategy, said, “Through Viral Pocket, we will further invest in nurturing up-and-coming creators and new content formats.”

The platform leverages a library of over 12,000 movies and 100,000 characters.
Eros also announced a $5 million Global Creator Acceleration Program to support AI-native films, series, and music projects. Founder Kishore Lulla said the platform will enable creators to directly participate in the digital economy while preserving the cultural values of Indian storytelling.
