The ambitious film music festival/concert directed by the Oscar-winning duo of Future Ruins, Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, was suddenly cancelled on Friday. The event was scheduled for November 8th.
The event, scheduled to be held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, was to feature notable film music figures such as John Carpenter, Quest Lob (playing Curtis Mayfield soundtrack works), Danny Elfman, Mark Motherbo and Hildur Gagna deutir (see here).
“Unfortunately, the ruins of the future this year will not move forward,” the event organizers wrote in a statement. “The reality feels that due to many logistical challenges and complications, we cannot provide the experience that defines the event as always intended, and we choose to rethink and reevaluate it rather than compromise.
Announced by Live Nation, the event was called “The First Event of a Music Festival: A Day-long Event where the world’s most influential film and television composer hits the stage from behind the screen.”
“It’s literally about giving the best people in the world the opportunity to bring their audience into an emotional ride through music and tell new stories in an interesting live environment,” Reznor said in his first announcement.
“Every artist is a headliner, each with its own uniquely curated moment,” read the first announcement. “Each artist is encouraged to undergo a huge shaking and rethink their work for a live audience.”
