Nina Dobrev and Sean White reportedly cancelled their engagement and split up after being together for five years.
“It was a mutual decision, not an easy decision, but it was made with love and deep respect for each other,” a source close to the pair told people on Thursday.
The pro snowboarder, 39, and 36, Dobrev, last took a photo together on August 31st while running errands in Los Angeles.
The “Vampire Diaries” star shared a photo via Instagram on Monday. Her engagement ring was on display in full, but it is unclear when the photos were taken.
But on Saturday, Dobrev walked the red carpet without her ring at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. She also did not look up photos of their engagement from her Instagram profile.
It is unclear when the split happened or why.
In October 2024, the couple confirmed their engagement and wrote his Instagram post in a white caption, “She said yes 💍♾💍♾”.
Dobrev also posted an image and celebrated the milestone by writing, “Rip Boriyden, Hello Fiancé💍♾️.”
White popped the question by presenting Dobrev with a stunning 5-carat diamond ring from Lorraine Schwartz in a room full of flowers from New York City’s hot spot The Golden Swan.
The duo unveiled their romance in April 2020, a year after meeting at an event with motivational speaker Tony Robbins.
“I actually didn’t know anything about her,” White told Vogue about Dobrev, who agreed to have dinner with him after the event.
The “DeGrassi” star ultimately highlighted the relationship by posting a white and a photo in May 2020.
In 2022, White hinted that he wanted to give birth to Dobrev’s children when he shared that he “wanted to be a dad.”
“It’s just so exciting, do you know?” he told Weekly that January. “I love being around people and the idea of someone else being cared for me outside of my pursuit.”
