“Saturday Night Live” poked fun at “The Jennifer Hudson Show’s” viral “Spirit Tunnel” video with an in-episode sketch with Nikki Glazer.
The sketch, styled like an antidepressant ad, opens with a shot of Glaser looking sadly out the window at the rain outside. In a voiceover, the woman says, “Are you anxious? Are you overwhelmed? Are you feeling less like yourself? Are you experiencing intense feelings of foreboding and fear? If so, you may be one of the many celebrities scheduled to dance through Jennifer Hudson’s psychic tunnel.”
On her phone, Glazer was watching a TikTok video of stars like Kathryn Hahn and Simon Cowell dancing in a hallway while cheered on by staff from “The Jennifer Hudson Show.”
Mr. Glazer then spoke directly to the camera. “I love Jennifer Hudson, but as an uncoordinated white woman, I felt trapped. I tried practicing, but everything I came up with seemed career-ending,” she said. “I once tried to put my butt in, but it wouldn’t go in.”
“I just kept imagining myself in that tunnel,” Glazer said in pain, as the staff of “The Jennifer Hudson Show” sang “Hey Mickey,” but instead of “Mickey,” “Nicky” was being sung. “It felt like there was no way out.”
Then her tone became brighter. “That’s when my doctor told me about fudosacillin,” Glaser said as a sketch was cut out of a pink and purple pill package. “Hadosacillin is the only drug proven to kill psych tunnel-related symptoms. It works, not by taking away the anxiety, but by making you sick enough to have to stop. It works fast. Maybe too fast. Thirty seconds after the first dose, I was shivering on the bathroom floor. I didn’t know which end to point towards the toilet.”
“That’s because Hadosacillin is made with a gentle blend of E. coli, influenza, C. diff, and rancid buttermilk. I finally have my life back, and now my spot in the tunnel is in the hands of someone who really wants it,” Glazer said as “SNL” cast member Marcelo Hernandez was shown inside the tunnel.
When the sketch was finished, the male narrator said, “Hadosacillin. Because what’s the alternative? Lighten up and make it fun? Good luck.”
