Nicole Richie shared a rare photo of her daughter Harlow on her Instagram Stories to celebrate her 18th birthday on Sunday.
Harlow debuted a dramatic new look in the photo, casually wearing a white long-sleeved T-shirt and staring straight into the camera.
She also boasts long black hair, as opposed to the blonde hair she was previously photographed with.
Richie captioned the photo: “My favorite person in the world just turned 18.” “Happy birthday. I love you.”
The “Simple Life” alum tagged Harlow on her Instagram account, but Harlow (whose full name is Harlow Winter Kate Madden) is called Kate.
Harlow is the eldest child of Richie and her husband Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden.
The couple, who married in December 2010, also have a 16-year-old son, Sparrow.
Madden gave insight into her marriage to Richie during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Literary! With Rob Lowe in March 2025 with her twin brother Benji Madden.
Benji married Cameron Diaz in January 2015.
“We all respect our wives,” said Joel, 46. “They’re definitely our counterparts, and we all have a healthy fear of our wives.”
“I met Nicole and she’s definitely leading the show,” he also shared. “But we’re partners, so there are aspects of it that I run. But there are parts of my life that wouldn’t work if she wasn’t running them.”
Richie, 44, has previously said he has been completely open with his children about everything he did as a wild child, including being frequently photographed by paparazzi at parties and having two drunk driving incidents.
“Even before I had kids, I knew I had to be transparent about who I was, and I actually found freedom in that,” Ritchie told Glamor magazine in December 2024.
“I’ve always been open and honest with my kids, and I hope they’ll be open and honest with me,” she added.
