Nicole Kidman filed for divorce from Keith Urban yesterday, with court documents released on the same day. Elle reviewed the court documents.
Nicole Kidman filed for divorce from Keith Urban yesterday after 19 years of marriage. Shortly afterwards, court documents filed in Davidson County, Tennessee, were released. The filing shows that while news of their split has broken, Kidman and Urban personally settled the child’s custody and property department this summer.
Kidman and Urban have two daughters, Rose, the 17-year-old Sunday, July 18th next year, and Faith Margaret, the 14-year-old, to turn 15 in December. The family is based in Nashville, with Kidman and Urban maintaining separate homes.
Elle reviewed the documents Jared had published. Here are some important points.
What reason did Kidman give for the divorce, and what was the date of their separation?
Kidman cited “incompatible differences” as the reason for the divorce and listed the separation date as the September 30th filing date.
She signed a divorce paper on September 29th. The same day news of their separation broke.
Did they decide on a child contract?
yes. Kidman included a detailed parenting plan in her submission. The previous couple finalized the agreement a few weeks ago, signed by Urban on August 29th and by Kidman on September 6th in front of a notary.
At the beginning of the document, Kidman and Urban agreed to provide a loving, stable, consistent, nurturing relationship with each other, so that despite their divorce, they provide for raising each other’s loving, stable, consistent, nurturing relationships with each child.
Kidman works as a primary housing parent for minor children, but they remain their co-manager.
Sundays and faith spend 306 days with mother and 59 days with her dad. They spend a few weeks with their mother, and spend every weekend with Urban. Holidays were mostly divided, with parents alternated custody every year.
Kidman has “final decision-making authority” if she disagrees, but her daughters’ main decisions are made jointly.
Did Kidman request a child or did he request support from his spouse?
no. Their parenting contract lists each monthly salary as $100,000, with the city saying “all child support obligations are prepaid to (Kidman).”
In her submission, Kidman wrote that neither party should receive alimony or spouse support.
