Nicole Kidman shared advice on how to survive a “devastating” experience in life, shortly after her shocking split from Keith Urban.
“As I get older, I want to be able to share and pass on what I’ve learned,” she told Harper’s Bazaar on Thursday while promoting Japanese beauty brand Clé de Peau Beauté as a global ambassador.
“I’ve seen so much, experienced so much, lived so much,” she continued. “I want to pass on some of that knowledge and wisdom and what I’ve learned.”
Reflecting on the best part of growing older, the 58-year-old “Practical Magic” star said she felt it was “the cumulative experience” that showed her that she could overcome many of life’s harrowing moments.
“And you think, ‘Oh, I’ve been here before. Actually, now I know how to deal with this,'” or, “Maybe I’ve never been to this place, but I’ve been through something similar to this and I know I can get through it,” she said.
“No matter how painful, no matter how difficult, no matter how devastating an event, it’s meaningful to know that there is a way to get through it,” she continued.
“You have to feel it. You can’t numb it. You have to feel it. And sometimes it will feel insurmountable. It will break your heart, but if you move gently and slowly, and it may take a very long time, it will go away,” she further explained.
Kidman previously went through a highly publicized divorce from Tom Cruise in 2001 after 11 years of marriage.
On September 30, she officially filed for divorce from Urban, ending their 19-year marriage.
In her application, she cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce and asked the court to name the “primary resident parents” of her two minor daughters, 17-year-old Sunday Rose and 14-year-old Faith Margaret.
A source previously told Page Six that the Big Little Lies star, 57, is “sad but moving forward” as they part ways.
She recently returned to social media on Tuesday to share a look from Paris Fashion Week in style, proving she’s in the “move on” spirit.
TMZ previously reported that Kidman and Urban have been living apart since the beginning of the summer. The country music star reportedly moved out of the estranged couple’s parents’ home and bought his own property in the area to take care of the children while Kidman was away.
Urban is currently on his High and Alive World Tour and was spotted without his wedding ring last week in his first public appearance since announcing their split.
