When Nicole Kidman met Keith Urban in 2005, she was immediately drawn to him. However, she says he has not contacted her for years after he gave him her phone number.
Kidman told Ellen DeGeneres in 2017. “I was so obsessed with him and he wasn’t interested in me. That’s true. He didn’t call me for four months.”
When he gets the phone, Urban realizes he’s lost all his life.
“Someone gave me her number and I kept it in my pocket for a while,” he said in an interview at an Australian talk show in 2018. I was not in a very healthy place in my life… I didn’t expect her to see anything in someone like me.
The pair had an incredible love story from there, but in September 2025 it was suspended. People reported that Kidman and Urban had separated.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban met at G’day USA Gala, an event in Los Angeles honoring Australians. Kidman was interested and confirmed that he had got her number, but it took several more months before he could chat.

He was there when he turned 38 on June 20, 2005. Afterwards, Kidman said he knew he was “the love of my life” when he saw him in front of the apartment with a bouquet of flowers in the garden at 5am.
“When I went, ‘This is the guy I hope to get married,'” she said. “At that point, I believed he was the love of my life.”

In May 2006, Nicole Kidman held the 30th anniversary gala for UNIFEM, the United Nations Development Fund for Women. Urban was her date and she announced to reporters that she was engaged.
“He’s actually my fiancé. I don’t bring my boyfriend,” she said.

The couple married on St. Patrick’s grounds on the beach in the outskirts of Sydney, Australia. They headed to Polynesia, France for their honeymoon.

Urban struggles with alcoholism and believes that he helped his wife start drinking. It reportedly began with an intervention held about four months after the wedding. He later told Rolling Stone in 2014 that he was “very, very blessed,” who helped his wife step in and enter rehabilitation.

The music artist left rehab after three months of treatment and was soon seen at a Golden Globe Party in Los Angeles.

Kidman and Urban bought a house together in Nashville in 2007. That’s where the city lived when he wasn’t traveling. They settled on farms southwest of the city.

In a later interview about Kelly and Ryan’s live show, Kidman said the city flew to Australia to watch ultrasound.
