In a competitive situation, Paramount+ gave the legal drama “Discretion,” starring Nicole Kidman and Elle Fanning, a straight series order, confirmed, Variety.
The project is based on a short story of the same name by Chandler Baker (“Whisper Network”, “Husband”), and A24 creates for Paramount. The show has received an order for eight episodes and will begin production in 2026.
The series’ loglines state that “Renny (Fanning), a summer associate at the prestigious Dallas law firm, reveals that the NDA’s web is hiding a dark truth.
Baker has written the series and produced executives, producing in addition to executive productions for both Kidman and Fanning. Susannah Grant (“Erin Brokovich”, “Incredible”) is also attached to executive produced. Kidman is an executive who uses Per Saari to produce via Blossom Films, and is Lewellen Pictures, executive produced by Fanning, her sister Dakota Fanning and Brittany Kahan Ward. Linden Entertainment’s Jordan Surf and Cut to Cut to Cut to Cut Joe Hip are also executive produced.
Kidman is represented by the CAA, media talent group, Tearman of Jacoway Austin. Fanning is represented by TFC Management and Hansen Jacobsen. Grant is represented by the UTA and the Lenore Entertainment Group. Baker is represented by the teemen of CAA, Writer House, Linden and Jackaway Austin.
This shows the latest well-known moves by Paramount’s DTC Chairman Cindy Holland and Jane Wiseman, the original director of Paramount+ under the David Ellison administration. As previously reported, the Netherlands helped bring “Stranger Things” creators Matt and Ross Duffer to Paramount on a massive four-year film and television deal.
Similarly, Ellison has paid $7.7 billion to lock out UFC events rights for the next seven years, becoming the exclusive streaming home for all UFC fights that begin in 2026.
