Dr. Will Halstead is back in Chicago.
Nick Geefs, who played Dr. Halstead for eight years before leaving “The Chicago Med” in 2023, will return to the guest appearance role in the upcoming season 11.
The last time viewer saw Halstead was in the season eight finale, when he moved to Seattle and reconnected with Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey Devito) and his son Owen.
“It was a difficult decision, but in the end I felt that as long as I went with him, I took Dr. Halstead. I think it comes down to your creative part, or the energy and spirit you have. “I’m attracted to the profession because of that diversity, and eight years is a long time. That’s two university degrees! I’m now, I’m basically a PhD on TV.”
Devitto left the show two seasons ago, but he was excited that their characters could be reunited on screen. “We’ve returned to work rhythms as if we had no days off. It’s a beautiful moment and I hope it brings closure to our fans,” he shared. “Because this relationship is in a complete circle for Will and Natalie. I think Will wanted a Natalie element in every relationship that follows their breakup. He really didn’t get over her.”
Season 10 introduced Allen McDonald, the new showrunner in the world of “Chicago Med.” At the top of the season, he teased a cameo by returning his favorites. “One of the things I like about the Chicago world is that they’re still part of the world just because someone leaves the show. And I like to check in with people.”
Gehlfuss is represented by Gersh and MJ Management.
“Chicago Med” will return to NBC on October 1st.
