Ghostface is back and out for blood as usual. Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for Scream 7.
“Scream 7” was first announced in August 2023. The film centers on Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell, and a new Ghostface killer who is eager to turn Sidney’s life with her daughter upside down. Campbell missed Scream 6 due to salary issues, but returned to help revive the series in Scream 5.
Courteney Cox and David Arquette return as characters from the previous Scream movie. Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley are also set to reprise their deceased characters from previous films.
Mason Gooding and Jasmine Savoy Brown are set to return to the cast, along with newcomers Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa German, McKenna Grace, Sam Lechner, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Mark Consuelos, and Ethan Embry.
The first four films in the Scream series, Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000), and Scream 4 (2011), were directed by the late Wes Craven, who passed away in 2015. Series creator Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first two and four films, will write and direct the seventh film. “Scream 7” is produced by William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein.
Scream 7 faced major setbacks, including production delays due to SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, creative overhauls, and the cast not returning for the latest installment. Melissa Barrera, who played Sam Carpenter in the first two films, was removed from the cast after making comments on social media about the ongoing conflict in Israel. Barrera’s on-screen co-star, Jenna Ortega, who played her on-screen sister Tara Carpenter, left the project shortly after due to scheduling conflicts with filming Netflix’s Wednesday.
“Scream 7” will be released nationwide on February 27th.
