Only members-only clubs that cater to those working in the creative industry will be closed on Friday. The company confirmed its decision in a lengthy message posted on its website.
The Neuehouse owner cited “Legacy Liability” as a reason why the business cannot continue.
“Neuehouse has created an invaluable business that is praised by its members and event hosts, but unfortunately it is borne by legacy debt,” according to a statement attributed to the Neuehouse Board. “Despite our best efforts to find a sustainable path, including exploring all possible solutions to address these challenges, we have made the extremely difficult decision to close our business and Neuehaus.
The news of Swift Shutdown has surprised many industry insiders. The Neuehouse location in Los Angeles has become a staple of conferences and party circuits since the venture began over a decade ago.
“For over a decade, Neuehouse has served as the centre of creativity, community, design and innovation that Trailblazers have called up to push boundaries and discover new ideas. Our mission was to provide a space for creators, innovators and thought leaders to come together and connect. “While this is certainly not the outcome we had envisioned for our business, we believe it is the most responsible path for all stakeholders, we deeply regret the impact this decision will have on our valued employees, members and customers.”
The sudden closure comes as another ominous sign of a critical struggle in the entertainment ecosystem, especially in Hollywood, where the economy is facing headwinds ranging from natural disasters to workforce strikes.
