Mathieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Pateliere, the writing and filmmaking duo behind the blockbuster hit The Count of Monte Cristo, will produce their first series for Pathé and Netflix.

The film is set to begin filming in France and Ireland on January 13th, with a top-notch French cast including Pio Marmai (The Three Musketeers), Alice Da Luz (Carême), Bourie Lanners (The Twelfth Night), Stéphane Caillard (Ad Vitam), Zineve Triqui (The Eagle of the Republic), and Patrick Mille (The Count). “Monte Cristo”), Florence Loiret-Caillou (“The Bureau”), Léonie Dahan-L’Amour (“Nude”), and Paul Beauperre (“The Richest Woman in the World”). Delaporte and de la Pateliere will co-direct with Thierry Poirot.
Pathé’s Aude Albano is produced in collaboration with Fargo Films, Delaporte and de La Patellière vehicles. The show reunites the filmmaker with Pathé, who co-produced The Count of Monte Cristo, distributed it in France and sold it around the world. The blockbuster film, produced by director Dimitri Rassam’s Chapter 2, turned out to be the second highest-grossing French film of 2024, with more than 9 million admissions in France after its world premiere in Cannes. Delaporte and de la Patellière also wrote Pathé’s two-part novel The Three Musketeers. The pair will next make their English feature debut in their first film, The Iron King, based on Maurice Druon’s Cursed Kings series of novels.
