Kai Shriver, the teenage daughter of Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, showed off her latest sparkle on social media.
In her Instagram Stories, the 16-year-old model posted a selfie of herself sticking out her tongue to show off her brand new tongue piercing.
This selfie has all of our favorite ’90s elements: a scoop-neck T-shirt, a stretchy tattoo choker necklace, a smokey lined eye, and the subtle graininess of an old digital camera.
Kai is one of many celebrity children who have entered the world of high fashion modeling.
A few weeks ago, while appearing on an episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, Watts admitted she was “kind of becoming a mom,” borrowing the words of Kris Jenner, the mother of her All’s Fair co-star Kim Kardashian (who is also an executive producer on Ryan Murphy’s new show).
To this, she added, “She’s very young, but she’s grounded, so it was a good way for her to feel proud of what she’s doing.”
Kai’s early career is off to a good start. The 5’11” model appeared in shows during New York and Paris Fashion Weeks this fall.
Last summer, Kai spoke to Interview Magazine about her modeling ambitions, saying, “I want to be a supermodel. I’ve been practicing my walk in the kitchen for years. My mom shows me all the videos I forced her to make.”
Adding to that, the teen added, “I think it probably has something to do with struggling with my gender identity from a young age. I always wanted to grow up and be as beautiful, charming and influential as Marilyn (Monroe).”
What about tongue piercings?
Shriver is a passionate advocate of self-expression and said in an interview, “It’s important to surround yourself with people who know you on a deep level and treat you well. I used to let people ignore me, but I learned my worth and distanced myself from them.”
