At the 10th Crunchyroll Anime Awards held in Tokyo on Saturday, May 23rd, “My Hero Academia Final Season” won the top award for Anime of the Year.
Voice actor Sally Amaki and entertainer John Kabila hosted the event for the fourth consecutive year. Guest presenters included The Weeknd, who announced the anime of the year. Other presenters in attendance included actor Asuka Saito, K-pop artist BamBam, cosplayer Enako, and actor Kasumi Arimura. Comedy duo Mitorizu, actor Nanase Nishino, Brazilian e-sports and gaming host Nivi Estefan, and pan-Indian star Rashmika Mandanna. RZA of Wu-Tang Clan. K-pop singer and dancer TEN, actor Winston Duke, and recording artist Young Miko.
The Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, arranged by Kazunori Miyake and conducted by Hirofumi Kurita, opened the curtain. Other performers included Dean Fujioka, Yoko Takahashi, Porno Graffitti, and Asian Kung Fu Generation.
Also at the event, director Tatsuya Nagamine, who has worked on works such as “Ojamajo Doremi,” “PreCure,” “Dragon Ball Super,” and “One Piece,” received the Global Impact Award. Animator Masayuki Sato (“Happiness Charge PreCure!”, “One Piece”) received the award on Nagamine’s behalf.

According to Crunchyroll, the Anime Awards received 73 million votes from fans around the world, a new record. The most active participating countries this year were Brazil, Germany, India, Mexico, and the United States.
The 10th Annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards will soon be available to stream on Crunchyroll and Crunchyroll’s YouTube channels, as well as Sony Group Corporation Global and Japan YouTube channels.
