Morrissey pulled out of a recent concert over noise allegations at a hotel.
The blog “Message from Morrissey” on Morrissey’s official website said that a performance scheduled for Thursday at the Palau de Les Arts in Valencia, Spain, was “made impossible due to lack of sleep.”
“Morrissey traveled by car from Milan to Valencia, but was unable to rest in Valencia due to noise,” the entry continued.
“Due to the current situation, it is impossible to hold the show,” the blog reads.
Another described Morrissey’s hotel as “an indescribable hell” and claimed: “It will take a year for[him]to recover. That’s an understatement.”
The most common complaint of the “Irish Blood, English Heart” hitmaker was the apparent prevalence of noise.
Another entry from March 12 read: “After two days of overland travel, Morrissey arrived at his hotel in Valencia late Wednesday.”
“The noise of the festival, the loud techno singing, and the megaphone announcements made it impossible to get any sleep or rest all night.” Morrissey claimed that “the experience left[him]in a catatonic state.”
A representative for the singer did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for further comment Thursday.
The 66-year-old singer previously canceled a performance in Rancho Mirage, Calif., in January.
“Due to side effects from prescription medication, Morrissey’s concert, originally scheduled for Saturday, January 3, 2026, has been postponed,” the Morrissey Solo website said in a statement at the time, adding that tickets “will still be accepted for the rescheduled date.”
Also in January, the San Diego Civic Theater announced in an Instagram upload featuring Morrissey that Morrissey’s show had been canceled.
Morrissey, who released his 14th solo album Make Up Is a Lie last week, also canceled several shows last year. A performance in Stockholm scheduled for June 23rd was canceled as they claimed they did not receive support.
“The pain of not being able to arrive in Stockholm this week is terrifying for the band and crew,” he wrote in a blog post at the time.
“I know people don’t understand, but we dream of Stockholm, Reykjavik, Trondheim, Helsinki, Aarhus… But we don’t have the financial support from a hypothetical record label to take us to such places.”
He wrote that the band was “almost invisible” after traveling through six countries. “Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark… We have thousands of friends and absolutely zero support from the music industry.”
He also canceled shows in Boston and Connecticut in September, according to a Facebook announcement.
A post on September 19 said there had been “credible threats to Morrissey’s life in recent days” and that the engagement was being canceled “out of the utmost consideration for the safety of both the artist and the audience.”
