Former Sen. Mitt Romney’s sister-in-law, Carrie Elizabeth Romney, was found dead in a Los Angeles parking lot on Friday, October 10th. She was 64 years old.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s representative tells PEOPLE that law enforcement responded to the 24500 block of Town Center Drive in a Valencia parking lot around 8:30 p.m. PT on Friday.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy confirmed to PEOPLE that the woman jumped or fell from the parking lot. According to NBC Los Angeles, the garage has five floors and is located near the Hyatt Regency hotel.
Although it did not confirm the woman’s name, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office website lists Carey as having died on Friday. Her place of death was listed as “street.” Her cause of death has been adjourned as of Monday, October 13, meaning further investigation is pending.

After announcing that he would not seek re-election in September 2023, he officially retired at the end of his term.
