Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry was noticeably absent from the Miss Universe pageant on Thursday, November 20, just one day after being admitted to hospital.
Representatives for the contest have not commented on the status of the contestants at this time.
The day before, on Wednesday, November 19, Henry, 28, fell off the stage while competing in the evening gown qualifying round. Video of the incident on social media shows Henry walking across the stage wearing an orange dress and high heels when she trips and falls off the stage.
Later social media videos showed Henry being removed from the contest on a stretcher.
Raul Rocha, owner of the Miss Universe Pageant, said in an Instagram post following the incident: “I would like to inform the Miss Universe family who are concerned about Miss Universe Jamaica’s health that at 12:00 am Bangkok time, she has just been discharged from the hospital where she is being treated. I was there with her family and her and thankfully there were no broken bones and she is receiving adequate treatment.”
The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization also released a statement providing an update on Henry’s condition, saying: “The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization would like to inform the public that Miss Universe Jamaica 2025 Dr. Gabrielle Henry has fallen from the main stage during the evening gown round of the preliminary competition ahead of this weekend’s Miss Universe finals in Thailand.”

The statement said Henry was rushed to Thailand’s Paolo Rangsit Hospital, adding: “Medical experts are treating her and have advised that her injuries are not life-threatening, but tests are continuing to ensure a full recovery.”
The incident comes after a series of controversies that rocked the Miss Universe pageant.

On Tuesday, November 18, Miss Universe judge Omar Harhoush withdrew, claiming that the Miss Universe organization had formed an “improvised jury” to select 30 finalists before contestants from 136 countries took to the stage for the preliminary rounds. Claude Makelele and two other judges, including the president of the selection committee, Princess Camila di Borbone delle Due Sicily, subsequently withdrew from the competition.
