Millie Bobby Brown clapped back at photographers while posing on the red carpet at the Stranger Things 5 premiere in London. When one of the photographers at the event yelled at Brown to smile for the camera, Brown retorted, “Laugh? You smile!” Brown then walked off the carpet.
Brown’s decision to confront photographers is reminiscent of Chapel Lawn, who made headlines last year when she walked the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards. Variety captured on video the moment Roan responded to a photographer yelling at her to “shut up.” Roan replied, “Shut up.”
A few months later, Roan was walking the red carpet at the premiere of Olivia Rodrigo’s concert film, Guts World Tour, and called out another photographer who he remembered being rude to. The pop star accused the photographer of being “rude to me at the Grammys” and claimed he “yelled” at her during the Grammys party. Roane asked the photographer for an apology, saying: “You deserve an apology for that,” and “you need to apologize to me.”
Denzel Washington is another notable celebrity who got into an altercation with a photographer this year. Things appeared tense between the Oscar winner and the pushy photographer on the red carpet for Spike Lee’s The Highest 2 Worsts at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Video from the carpet showed Washington pointing his finger at photographers and yelling, “Stop!” As Washington approached, the photographer tried to laugh off the confrontation and put his arm around the actor’s arm. Washington stepped back and again told the photographer to stop.
Brown has been in the press lately to support Stranger Things 5, the final season of Netflix’s hit series. The first batch of episodes will be available on Netflix on November 26th.
