Hannah Montana is coming back soon — and now Disney has released another trailer for the March 24 release of the 20th anniversary special.
The trailer released on Tuesday shows Miley Cyrus, playing her iconic character Hannah Montana, running down a hill to the set of the special. “It’s good to be home!” she said before going inside. Cue the “best of both worlds”!
Complete with a montage and plenty of nostalgia, the trailer gives fans a closer look at what the anniversary special will be like. A preview was hosted by “Call Her Daddy” star Alex Cooper and included a moving performance of Cyrus’ 2009 hit “The Climb.”
The singer also shared a touching moment with her mother, Tish Cyrus. “I loved being Hannah, and I loved being Miley Cyrus,” Cyrus says. “You really taught me how to be who I am.”
Billy Ray Cyrus appears in the trailer, and in addition to being Cyrus’ biological father, he played Hannah’s father Robbie in the series. The two shared a hug in what appears to be the set (or recreation) of Hannah’s iconic Malibu home.
“We have a lot of common memories. In fact, we grew up together,” Cyrus says on stage. “I loved being Hannah then, and now I live for it,” Cyrus tells the crowd.
“Hannah Montana” first aired in 2006 and ran for four seasons until 2011. The show, which follows Miley Stewart, a teenager from Malibu, California, who plays the role of famous pop singer Hannah Montana, was a huge hit with children and teens. This movie, “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” was also born and was released in theaters in April 2009 during the show’s third season.
In addition to Cyrus, Emily Osment played Lily Truscott, Hannah’s best friend. Mitchell Musso played Oliver Oaken, another close friend. Jason Earls played his younger brother Jackson. Moises Arias played Rico Suave, the manager of the local Rico’s Surf Shop.
