May Queen Hechima’s reign last for a long time!
Michelle Yeoh earned the sassy title at the New York premiere of Wicked: For Good on Monday, setting the internet ablaze as she soared down the Lincoln Center carpet in a neon yellow tulle confection.
The Oscar winner, 63, wore a strapless ball gown by Sarah Burton for Givenchy, the final look from the designer’s debut fall 2025 collection. The voluminous tulle creation was originally shown at Paris Fashion Week in March.
Reaction to the bold, bright look on social media was decidedly mixed, with some fans loving the statement-making moment and others comparing it to a cleaning product.
“Camp is really back,” one X user declared. Another joked: “Me while mopping.”
Reactions on Instagram ranged from praise to affectionate well-wishes. “Joan Rivers would be crazy about this,” one commenter wrote, while another hailed her as “my neon loofah queen.”
“I love bright yellow…no matter what!!💛💛💛,” one fan wrote in the comments section of Page Six’s Instagram, where she posted this look.
However, the others did not sell. “27 munchkins came out of her dress,” one person joked.
“I was trying not to overdo it…but I accidentally appeared like Tinkerbell after the pixie dust exploded 💥,” one post captured the fairytale energy of the gown.
Yeo accessorized her voluminous gown with some serious sparkle, wearing Mikimoto’s Les Pétals necklace featuring pearls set within diamond-encrusted rose petals and several diamond rings.
She also took the opportunity to show off one of her signature Richard Mille watches. This time it’s a clear sapphire custom RM07-02 watch. This is the same watch she wore when she became the first Asian woman to win Best Actress at the 2023 Academy Awards.
This watch is not available for purchase, but based on the similar Richard Mille RM07-02 style, it will likely sell for more than $1 million. Yeo has been a brand ambassador for Richard Mille for many years.
This dress was the most colorful of Yeoh’s “Wicked: For Good” premiere outfits. She wore a dramatic honeycomb dress by Iris Van Herpen for the Singapore premiere and a custom Self Portrait velvet look for the London screening, both paired with Mikimoto jewelry.
Yeoh plays the role of Madame Morrible in Wicked: For Good, which opens in theaters this Friday.
