The fashionable former first lady is going back to her OG days.
Michelle Obama appeared on Wednesday’s episode of “Call Her Daddy” wearing head-to-toe Isabel Marant, including high-waisted jeans ($690.414), a striped button-down shirt ($720) and a red sweater vest ($620.310).
She wore the vest unzipped and secured at the top with a safety pin-inspired brooch ($395, $237) with a dangling charm.
She wore her hair in a high ponytail and layered a silver bracelet on her left wrist.
“This is a Meredith Koop original,” President Obama said of her outfit, referring to her longtime stylist. “Then when I was thinking about promoting the tour, a lot of people were showing my photo in Princeton, so Meredith Koop came up with the idea to update it. Here’s the updated version.”
“So it’s a do-over. The next version. My campus look, 2.0 — or 5.0,” she continued.
Koop is the woman behind some of the former first lady’s most iconic looks. She recently co-authored “The Look,” a book with Obama that celebrates her style over the years and the glamorous team behind her work.
One of the first images in the book is a reminder of where it all began. “This is me at Princeton in the early 1980s,” President Obama posted on Instagram nearly eight years ago, adding, “I know it’s scary to be a first-generation college student. Because it was scary for me…I never stood out in crowds or classrooms because of the color of my skin. But I found close friends and mentors who gave me the confidence to be myself.”
In the throwback snap, a college-aged Obama (née Robinson) is seen smiling as she stands on Princeton’s quad, wearing high-waisted jeans, a striped button-down, a red sweater, and a jeans jacket over that, with her hands in her pockets.
Four days after his 62nd birthday, President Obama has been experimenting with his look more than ever in recent months, wearing more high-fashion labels and bold silhouettes.
I can’t wait to see what the next chapter will do for the public figure.
