“Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts interviews former first lady Michelle Obama in ABC News Studios’ new special, “Michelle Obama: The Style, The Power, The Look – A Conversation with Robin Roberts – 20/20 Special Edition.” The show is scheduled to air on ABC this Sunday, November 2nd.
The special, which will air Sunday at 8 p.m. ET and stream the next day on Hulu, is timed to President Obama’s upcoming book, “The Look.” Roberts’ interview was filmed at Marymount University in Virginia and focuses on Obama’s style and other fashion-related topics.
The Look, scheduled to be released by Crown on November 4, was written by President Obama with the help of Meredith Koop, who served as Obama’s stylist and creative consultant during and after his presidency. “The Look” focuses on the former first lady’s style when she first came into the public eye.
According to ABC News Studio’s description of the feature, “Obama shares the important, and sometimes complex, role that fashion has played in her life, from designing her own prom dress as a child, to navigating the spotlight as America’s first black first lady, to defining who she is today. A passionate supporter of future generations and education, Obama is wowing students past and present as they strive to make their mark in fashion.”
Other interviews in the special will include Koop, as well as President Obama’s makeup artist Carl Ray and hairstylists Jene Damtew and Njeri Radwei. The feature also features designers Diane von Furstenberg, Jason Wu, Tracy Reese, Narciso Rodriguez, and several fashion commentators.
ABC News Studios and 20/20 are producing “Michelle Obama: Style, Power, Look – A Conversation with Robin Roberts – 20/20 Special Edition.” Janice Johnston and Karen Leo will serve as executive producers, with David Sloan serving as senior executive producer.
