Miami Dade College’s Miami Film Festival announced the lineup of gems for the 12th Miami Film Festival, the spools, from October 29th to November. 5. The fest begins with Park Chang Wook’s “Other Choices” “Other Choices”. Park will be present to win the Master of the Precious Jewelry Award.
The other three valuable Jewel Award winners are Lucy Liu. He will be awarded for screenings of her drama Rosemead and costume designer Mona May for “Ignorance.”
The festival’s star power follows Vanguard Award-winning Dylan O’Brien (star of the fest film Twinless) and Variety Visitors Award-winning Ethan Hawk.
The festival is closed with Leanne Johnson’s “Wake Up Deadman: Knife Out Mystery,” and includes a centerpiece screening of Monafast Bold’s “Anley’s Will” and Doloresfonzie’s “Belem” in “Hamnett” in “Belem”. Mendonça Filho’s “Secret Agent.”
“The 12th edition of GEMS, along with bold new discoveries, brings together some of the most anticipated films of the season,” said programming director Lauren Cohen. “With 40 prestige titles, this is the largest gem lineup that has ever brought to Miami audiences. You can celebrate the work of incredible storytellers like Noah Bambach, Park Chang Uk, Guillermo del Toro, Paolo Sorrentino, Jafar Panagi, Luca Guadagnino, Kun Link, and more. One lineup captures the richness and diversity of global cinema, beyond the work of the world’s most established auter in the world today.
The festival will also screen “Cancel: Paula Dean Story,” with acclaimed Miami Director and Fest regular Billy Corben.
The festival welcomes V-ME Media and DirectV as sponsors of Gems’ Spanish content at the Miami Film Festival. These include “The Poet” (Colombia), “Belem” (Argentina), “The Deaf” (Spain), “Silato” and the numerous English films by Michel Franco, “Dream” (Mexico).
Other famous film screenings at the Fest include Luca Guadagnino’s After the Hunt, Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon and Nouvel Vargue, David Mised’s Christie, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, and Bradley Cooper’s “What’s this about?
