It has been announced that Melissa Fumero will appear in the CBS original drama “Einstein”.
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Grosse Pointe Garden Society alum will star opposite Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays Louis Einstein, Albert Einstein’s bright but directionless great-grandson. According to the series’ logline, Lewis spends her days as a comfortable tenured professor until her bad-boy antics land her in trouble with the law, and she’s sent to work to help a local police detective solve her most baffling cases.
Fumero will play the aforementioned New Jersey State Police Detective Teri. According to the character description, “A sharp and disciplined Teri demands a lot from her colleagues, but she also demands a lot from herself, and feels conflicted about cooperating with Professor Einstein.”
The series began production this month and is scheduled to air as part of CBS’ 2026-2027 broadcast season. The network describes “Einstein” as a “drama with comedic elements.” The project was first ordered as a pilot in August 2024 and was originally scheduled for the 2025-2026 season, but was postponed a year later.
Executive producers include Andy Breckman, Randy Ziske, Michael Rauch, Tariq Jalil, Rose Hughes, Rodrigo Herrera Ibargengoitia, and Laura Beetz. Gubler will serve as the producer.
Fumero is best known for her role as Detective Amy Santiago opposite Andy Samberg on Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The series won a Golden Globe Award, received 11 Emmy nominations, and even survived an initial cancellation after fans led a campaign to have the show rebroadcast. Fumero’s additional credits include NBC’s “Grosse Pointe Garden Society,” Netflix’s “Blockbuster” and the new thriller “Red Dirt.”
Fumero is repped by United Talent Agency, Corner Booth Entertainment and The Lede Company.
