Megyn Kelly ripped off Sidney Sweeney’s eye-catching silver corset dress after her sheer style went viral.
“I oppose this,” the 54-year-old conservative commentator told viewers on his talk show Thursday. “I refuse because that dress is completely transparent.”
Kelly pointed out that (Sweeney’s) breasts were “in full” view in the Christian Cowan dress she wore to Variety’s Power of Women event on Wednesday.
Kelly compared Sweeney to Kim Kardashian after praising the 28-year-old’s “number one assets” as “huge” and “spectacular.”
“She…overshares and takes away the sexiest thing. That’s what every man wants, to be seen in person, and leaves a little to the imagination,” the journalist explained.
However, Kelly clarified that he is a “Sidney Sweeney fan.”
The host of “The Megyn Kelly Show” speculated that perhaps the “very young” Emmy nominee was “misled” into wearing the headline-grabbing design.
“I swear, someone brought her a dress and said, ‘Okay, let’s take it to the next level,'” Kelly theorized. “And then she trusted the wrong person. And before you knew it, we were all witnessing it.”
She called the gown a “rare blunder” and noted that she recently supported Sweeney, from “The White Lotus,” when he caused controversy in American Eagle’s “Great Jeans” ad.
Kelly quipped, “I’m drawing a line through my areola.”
Representatives for Mr. Sweeney did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Some social media users watered down the look Sweeney wore while giving a speech about being “underrated.”
One netizen claimed that the dress was “overpowering rather than empowering,” while another added, “She…wears a dress that shows more of her body than her message.”
Meanwhile, many Sweeney fans are defending the “Handmaid’s Tale” alum’s latest look.
Although Sweeney hasn’t spoken out against the backlash, the “Anyone But You” star posted a series of snaps of herself in the dress on Instagram on Thursday, from red carpet photos to mirror selfies.
“The power of women,” the “Euphoria” star captioned the upload.
Katy Perry, AJ McLean and Jesse James Decker all praised her dress in the comments, with followers calling it “absolutely beautiful,” “stunning” and “gorgeous.”
