Meghan shared a rare glimpse of Archie in a new video posted to Instagram. In the video, Archie is seen skiing with his father, Prince Harry, and Meghan revealed in the caption that her eldest son is learning the sport. Prince Harry has a special history with skiing, which he recalls in his memoir Spare.
Meghan, who has given fans plenty of glimpses of her daughter Lilibet in recent weeks, turned the spotlight on her six-year-old son Archie yesterday evening. The Duchess of Sussex shared a video of Archie skiing with his father Prince Harry. This is a nod to Prince Harry’s own childhood, when his late mother Princess Diana regularly took Archie and his older brother Prince William on ski trips.
“My boys. Archie is a quick learner! I’m so proud of him ❤️,” Meghan wrote.
Prince Harry recalled his childhood ski trips with Princess Diana in his 2023 memoir, Spare. “For several years I had been seriously talking about working at the ski resort in Lech am Arlberg (Austria), where my mom used to take me. It was such a great memory,” he wrote in People magazine. He added that he at one point considered becoming a ski instructor, but his father, King Charles, said that possibility was “out of the question”.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan will celebrate Archie’s seventh birthday on May 6th. Last year, Meghan celebrated her eldest son’s big day on Instagram. “Our son. Our sunshine. Happy 6th birthday, Archie!” she wrote. “Thank you for all the love, prayers and warm wishes for our sweet son. He’s 6 years old! Where did all the time go? (And to everyone who came to celebrate with him at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special ❤️)”
Just last month, Duchess Kate shared a glimpse of her son. He made a secret cameo appearance in a behind-the-scenes video of Meghan Markle’s collaboration shoot for “As Ever” and “High Camp Supply.” “Mommy’s little helper 💫,” she wrote. “BTS filming @aseverofficial at my house.”
Although Meghan occasionally posts photos of her children, she usually keeps their childhood private.
In November, she spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about this time with Lily and Archie: “I’m a mom of kids that age, and they’re always learning something new. I see them every day facing things that seem completely insurmountable. But what I can remember and say is, ‘I know it’s really hard right now, but trust me, it’ll come quickly and easily.'”
