Through the Archewell Foundation, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry have launched Parents Network, a community for parents whose children have been negatively affected by social media. The group is currently partnering with ParentsTogether, a nonprofit organization that publishes articles on family and children issues.
“Our children, Archie and Lilibet, are only six and four years old,” Meghan said in her speech, according to People magazine. “Can you believe it?”
She went on to address the many challenges parents face in the modern day. “Fortunately, they are still too young for social media, but we know that day will come,” she added. “Like many parents, we are constantly thinking about how to harness the benefits of technology while protecting against its dangers, and that hopeful separation intention is rapidly becoming impossible.”
She continued, “We know that when parents come together and communities come together, waves are created. We’ve seen it happen. We’ve seen it grow. And with your support, we will continue to build a safer digital world for all children.”
Prince Harry said: “Two years ago, for the first time, we spoke publicly about the work we have been doing with parents to address the devastating impact social media has on children.”To share this news, we took part in Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day Festival. There’s no better place, because the mission of this organization that we’re all celebrating here tonight is to expand access to mental health support, and that’s exactly what we’ve been trying to do by building this community called Parents Network.”
