Meghan Markle was moved to tears at a touching charity event hosted by her BFF Kelly Zadifen for her late son.
The Duchess of Sussex wiped away tears as she watched Zajifen directly address Markle and her husband Prince Harry about their support for the tennis tournament, as seen in a video shared online. The event was created in memory of Kelly’s son, George Seiffen, who died in 2022 at the age of nine after contracting COVID-19 and viral meningitis.
As the Sussexes and others in attendance looked on, Kelly said: “You continue to show up for our families, for our foster families and for all children who deserve the chance to thrive.”
As Markle began to cry, she added: “We are endlessly inspired by the way you use your voice.” “It is our greatest honor that you have chosen to celebrate Alliance for Children’s Rights…We love you so much.”
The “Suits” alum shared on her Instagram Stories that she was “proudly” rooting for George Zaifen in his tennis tournament, along with a selfie of herself with Kelly and George’s twin sister Lily Zaifen.
Markle, who shares Prince Harry with Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, also shared a video of Lily running up to the “Spare” author and excitedly hugging her.
“Our other favorite Lily,” the mother-of-two wrote above the clip.
Since Kelly and her husband Julian Seiffen lost their son, Markle has supported her best friend by participating in numerous charities and fundraising events.
In April 2024, As Ever founder and former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer attended Kelly’s Moms Alliance charity event and modeled a graphic T-shirt to give back to young parents who have experienced foster care.
And that October, the longtime friends attended LA Gala Children’s Hospital together and walked the green carpet in support of CHLA and the “special care” they provided to Lily, who suffers from heart disease.
Last month, Kelly gave rare insight into the nature of Markle’s “upbringing.”
“I’ve actually known her for almost 20 years,” the nonprofit co-founder wrote on his Instagram Story during a Q&A at the time.
“She even came to my wedding (15 years ago!) and she was the most wonderful, nurturing, fun, loving human being. She has been by my side, especially since Georgie passed away. I cherish our friendship so much.”
