For Meghan Markle, the perfect start to the day is to cook breakfast for Prince Harry and his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lillivet.
The conversation arose when the Duchess of Sussex prepared French toast alongside Queer Istar’s Tan France in the latest season of Love With Love Meghan, which premiered on Netflix on Tuesday, August 26th.
“I cook most morning breakfasts for my kids and my husband. But it’s not as complicated as people think about it. It’s very easy,” said Meghan, 44. “It feels like a big job, but you just slice the bread and soak it in the eggs and call it a day.”
“You’re on the griddle. They don’t just eat grain,” replied France.

“Yes, fried eggs and pancakes,” Meghan said. “But I like to surprise pancakes for the kids, so I always put in some ground flax seeds and pour some chia seeds.”
She explained that daily routines allow them to be intentional about the moments they spend together.
“Breakfast ritual, it’s a sacred time as a family. You pace it. You can talk about what they’re excited about that day. So, before that day, stay calm wherever the day takes you,” said the Duchess of Sussex.
Still, as before, creators like to add their signature talent.
“One of the things I do with the kids — and say it takes a little longer — I like presentations for them. Archie says, ‘Oh, mom, that looks beautiful,'” Meghan said.
In March, she went to Instagram Stories, showing off the creation of a special green waffle for children’s breakfast in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, and was thematic as well as with strawberries frosted in pink spreads and red swirl bagels for Valentine’s Day.
“I get up before I have kids so I usually wake up at 6:30, then I get up that day, put on my clothes for the day and go downstairs,” she told people earlier this year. “I love cooking breakfast for my family.”

However, her daily meals don’t always have to match the highlights she shares on social media on special occasions.
“My husband and Archie both love fried eggs,” she says. “There’s a lot of bacon around here, and sometimes you don’t have all the time, so you just put frozen waffles in the toaster and call them a day. And there’s no shame either.”
