Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have arrived in Jordan for a surprise visit.
The couple began an official trip to the Middle East on Wednesday and will remain there until Thursday, according to a press release obtained by Page Six.
Part of Meghan and Harry’s two-day trip included a visit to a specialist hospital in the capital Amman, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were photographed meeting Maria, a 14-year-old burn patient from Gaza.
Duchess Meghan, 44, and Prince Harry, 41, embarked on a humanitarian trip with World Health Organization Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to focus on humanitarian health response, mental health and support for communities most vulnerable to conflict and displacement.
After arriving in Jordan, the royal couple attended a WHO roundtable in Amman hosted by Dr Tedros and regional WHO leaders.
They also met with major donors and humanitarian partners.
According to the BBC, Philip Hall, the British ambassador to Jordan, thanked the Sussexes for making the trip to Jordan.
“Your visit, your support and of course your appreciation for the efforts that the United Nations is making here, including the World Health Organization, the Government of Jordan and others, is very much appreciated,” he said, according to the media. “Well then, thank you for coming.”
After discussing working together toward “peace in the region,” Hall also reportedly said, “We all know that is very difficult to achieve, but we are working towards it.”
After the WHO roundtable, Meghan and Harry visited the QuestScope Youth Center in Zaatari refugee camp, before accompanying a WHO delegation to Amman to meet with recent medical evacuees from the Gaza Strip.
On Thursday, they will visit World Central Kitchen Food, accompany a WHO delegation to the National Addiction Rehabilitation Center, visit women leaders of the Jordanian Hashemite Human Development Fund, and visit the King Hussein Cancer Center.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s surprise trip to Jordan this week marks their first joint overseas trip since May 2024 to Nigeria and August 2024 to Colombia. Most recently, he attended the 2025 Invictus Games in Whistler, Canada.
The couple’s visit to Jordan comes just days after Prince Harry’s uncle, former Prince Andrew, was arrested on February 19, the same day as Prince Harry’s 66th birthday, on charges of misconduct in office.
The Sussexes have been far removed from royal drama since leaving the UK in 2020 and later relocating their royal duties to California, but sources suggested Andrew’s arrest could still have unintended consequences for them.
“The King has stripped Andrew of his title, he can strip Harry and Meghan of their titles, he can strip Beatrice and Eugenie of their titles. He can do anything to save his own skin,” a royal source said.
