The cast of The Pit is participating in season 2, including some important real-life cast members.

HBO Max’s critically acclaimed medical drama starring Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa returns for a second season on January 8th. The drama took place during a 15-hour shift in the emergency room at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center on Independence Day.

Dr. Michael “Robbie” Robinavich is single on the show, but off-screen he has been married to his wife Sarah Weil for over 10 years.

During his acceptance speech for the 2026 Golden Globe Award for Best Male Actor in a Drama Series, just days after the Season 2 premiere, he made sure to give Sarah a special shout-out on stage.

“I have always been supported by my wonderful wife and three wonderful children,” he said.

At the end of his speech, he added a special birthday message to Sarah: “Finally, happy birthday to my beautiful wife Sarah. I hope you’re enjoying the party.”

While Sarah and LaNasa’s husband, Grant Shaw, will provide support off-screen, two other star love interests will also be making their debuts on the show this season.

Here’s everything you need to know about the real-life loves of Pitt’s cast.

Noah Wyle, who stars as Dr. Michael “Robbie” Robinavich on The Pit, married his wife Sarah Wyle on June 7, 2014.

The wedding took place at his home in Santa Barbara, Calif. “It was beautiful. It was amazing. It was a very small ceremony. We have this little farm in California,” the actor announced on The View after the wedding.

The couple, who first met in 2010, gave birth to daughter Frances on June 22, 2015, almost a year after they got married.

Noah was previously married to Tracy Warbin and they have a son, Owen, born on November 9, 2002, and a daughter, Auden, born on October 15, 2005.

Katherine LaNasa plays Dana Evans, a no-nonsense charge nurse in the emergency department at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. In real life, she has been married to her husband, actor Grant Shaw, for over 10 years.

The couple first met while filming the HBO series Big Love in 2006 and announced their engagement in July 2012.

A month after sharing news of their engagement, LaNasa and Shaw tied the knot on August 18, 2012 at Oak Grove at Rivit Tree and Plant Nursery in Topanga, California. “We’re so happy we found each other,” the couple told PEOPLE after the wedding.

LaNasa and Shaw welcomed their daughter, Eloise, on March 25, 2014.

The actress has a son, Henry, with her first husband Dennis Hopper. Henry was born on September 11, 1990.

When LaNasa won the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series award at the 2025 Emmy Awards, she not only expressed how “proud and honored” she was, but also gave a special shoutout to her family.

“Finally, my children, who have made me the real person I am, and my beautiful husband, Grant Shaw, who has always helped me in every way,” she said.

Patrick Ball and Elysia Rohrback

Patrick Ball plays Dr. Frank Langdon in The Pit. In real life, he has been dating his girlfriend Elysia Rohrbach since 2023.

The two first met while working on the stage adaptation of Las Aventuras de Juan Planchardo in Miami and began dating on October 12, 2023.

Just as Albanese appeared in the Season 2 premiere of The Pit, fans can expect to see Rollback on screen this season as well.

“It was a dream,” he told HELLO! I decided to move with my girlfriend in January 2026. In the show, Frank is asked to treat her character, who is suffering after an eye accident.

“We can turn around and play pretend together again. I could be her doctor. And[her character]wanted nothing to do with me, and that felt right, too,” he said.

However, he said he had “nothing to do” with Ruhrbach being cast in the role, adding that she “auditioned and got the job the old-fashioned way. It was truly a dream come true.”

Sean Hatosy and Kelly Albanese

Sean Hatosy made a huge impact in Season 1 of The Pit as Robbie’s old friend Dr. Jack Abbott. Off-screen, he has been married to wife Kelly Albanese since 2010.

“I think so,” the couple said on December 18, 2010 at Tivoli Terrace (now Terra Laguna Beach) in Laguna Beach, California.

They have three sons: Cassius, Leo, and Finn.

In his acceptance speech at the 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series, he thanked Albanese during his speech.

“To my beloved wife, you are my partner and my world. I love you to no end. Without your sacrifices, I would not be here,” he said on stage.

Hatoshi did not appear in the Season 2 premiere of The Pit, but Albanese appeared in the episode as Rayna Burgess, the wife of a patient who had been suffering from leg cramps for several days.

“My wife Kelly auditioned and happened to get the role. Her stage name is different from my last name,” the actor told HELLO!

He further added, “Abbott doesn’t appear in the first few episodes for some reason, so I couldn’t work with her!”

Alexandra Metz, who plays Dr. Yolanda Garcia on the series, has been married to her husband Zachariah Pierce Grohl since 2021.

Although the two have not publicly revealed where or how they met, they got engaged in December 2020. The couple held a private ceremony in California on May 17, 2021, followed by a celebration with family and friends on October 8, 2022 in Campbellsport, Wisconsin.

The artist publicly showed his support for the Mets and the show, posting on Instagram on the day of the 2025 Emmy Awards, “So proud of my amazing and talented wife.”

She added: “We’re rooting for Noah and the whole gang to win an Emmy tonight! Let’s go!”
