Entertainment Investment Company Media Capital Technologies has launched a new theatrical distribution label, Row K Entertainment. The new company says it will focus on extensive releases, star-driven film distribution, from well-known directors with global appeal.
Row K also joined and served as president of Megan Colligan, former president of IMAX Entertainment and president of Paramount Pictures’ Worldwide Marketing and Distribution. She brings an enviable list of relationships with talent. Row K is headquartered in West Hollywood and will close out its full executive team in the coming months. It will make its debut at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival. There, films that are acquired and released in North America become hunting. The company hopes to distribute up to 10 movies a year with plans to scale up over the next few years.
MCT is supported by a variety of institutional investors, including MassMutual, who gained interest in the company in 2021. Christopher Woodrow and Largesin act as principals for both MCT and Row K.
“Christopher and Large share the idea that there are more efficient ways to build modern studios. Low K is built for a world where creation, consumption and connection occurs simultaneously across all channels,” Corrigan said in a statement. “We are excited about the opportunity to serve films, filmmakers and audiences in new ways, particularly with a focus on the theatrical experience.”
Row K employs a variety of bespoke distribution strategies for each title, focusing primarily on a wide range of theatrical releases. They acquire completed films, raise funds, and create their own slate. The column K in the name is a reference to the lines that are perfect for watching movies inside the theater.
“The secondary market for high quality commercial content supported by efficient and targeted marketing strategies is inadequately demanded. Between the tent pole budget level of major studios and the limited reach of boutique players, Row K was built to fill this void,” Woodrow and Singh said in a statement. “The veteran management team at MCT brings decades of fundraising expertise and a strong industry network, providing Row K with the resources and flexibility to deliver at scale. Equally important is a model built with artists in mind who provide transparency, creative coordination and long-term value for both filmmakers and audiences.
CAA Media Finance, which helped me come up with the idea of Row K, acts as an advisory partner for the company. Both MCT and ROW K are represented by CAA.
MCT has been a co-finance partner for Lionsgate’s Primary Rate since 2023 and has invested in more than 20 films in the studio, including “Saw X,” “The Best Christmas Pageant,” “Flight Risk,” and “Ballerina” spinoff. Future titles include “Long Walk,” “Good Luck,” and “The Housemaid.” In March, MCT partnered with filmmaker Eliros to launch the Horror Section, a media company focused on building horror film libraries. Ross’ Ice Cream Man is scheduled to be released in a wide range of theatrical releases in 2026.
